Eyeblaster and RealNetworks Partner to Deliver High-Impact Video Ads in Downloadable Casual Games

New eb.in-games Solutions Geared for Advertisers, Game Developers

June 27, 2006 (New York) – Eyeblaster, the global leader in integrated digital marketing services and technology, today announced a partnership with RealNetworks Inc., the leading developer, publisher and distributor of casual games, to develop and deliver high impact video ads to the downloadable casual game marketplace.

At the center of this relationship is eb.in-games, a solution that utilizes proven Eyeblaster tools that help to optimize the effectiveness of interactive video and static ad formats in game environments. According to Eyeblaster, this will extend and enlarge the current ad-based business model for casual games by allowing marketers to place engaging, interactive ads in the gaming arena—a marketplace with a highly coveted, targeted demographic of end-users.

“As the leading publisher of casual games, a high-quality experience for the gaming consumer is a priority for us, said Chris Houtzer, Senior Product Manager, Games Division at RealNetworks. “We’ve seen first-hand how Eyeblaster heightens the level of engagement and entertainment by enabling video ads in games. This level of quality and creative capability convinced us that Eyeblaster is the right partner to help us deliver in-game advertising and make the most of this opportunity.”

Eyeblaster will work with Real’s’ studio GameHouse, a publisher and distributor of downloadable computer games. Eyeblaster’s digital marketing technology is currently enabled in 12 best selling downloadable games that will be distributed via RealArcade and GameHouse during this summer. The games include TextTwist, Mah Jong Medley and Sudoku.

“Online gaming is an increasingly attractive option for marketers,” said Gal Trifon, Eyeblaster’s president and chief executive officer. “Now, with Eyeblaster’s eb.in-games solution, it’s easier for advertisers to reach and make an impact on the growing, attractive gaming audience as well as offering game developers an exciting new way to generate new revenue streams.”

Along with the in-games ad solution for brand advertisers, Eyeblaster also provides powerful tools for game developers and game destination sites to easily integrate high-impact video ads into casual downloadable games.

In-Game Ads Win with Consumers

In the course of beta-testing four of the downloadable games, Real sought to learn consumer reaction to the dynamic of exposure to ads in exchange for free play. A majority of those surveyed responded positively to in-game ads delivered by the eb.in-games solution and fully accepted the viewing of ads for free gaming entertainment.

“We believe this research finding serves as confirmation of the power and value of video ads in games, for marketers, game developers and consumers,” Trifon said.
