BALTIMORE, Maryland, March 21, 2005 - SafeNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: SFNT), setting the standard for information security, today announced a partnership with Digital River, Inc., a global leader in e-commerce outsourcing. Digital River plans to expand its licensing and platform support for SoftwarePassport™, its digital revenue management solution, by integrating with SafeNet's Sentinel LM, a software-based license management technology.

Digital River's SoftwarePassport technology is designed to enable software publishers to not only protect their software, but also market, sell, distribute and track their digital assets across untapped, global online markets. Through its integration with SafeNet Sentinel LM, Digital River plans to expand support for its SoftwarePassport technology beyond the Windows® operating systems to include the Java™, Linux®, Macintosh® and UNIX® operating systems. More specifically, Sentinel LM will enable Digital River to meter the number of software licenses generated, activated and delivered to a user across multiple software platforms. Additionally, Digital River will be able to provide users a convenient and seamless "pay-as-you-go" plan for making add-on license purchases. The multiple platform version of SoftwarePassport is scheduled for release during the spring of 2005.

"We always are looking for new, more effective ways to help our clients generate business in global online markets while at the same time minimizing their costs and risks," said Joel Ronning, Digital River's CEO. "We selected SafeNet and its market-leading product to help us further expand our SoftwarePassport technology and deliver increasing levels of technology sophistication and licensing options to our clients."

"Digital River is an established global leader in e-commerce outsourcing with a robust delivery infrastructure that is well respected in the software industry. The combination of our two companies will produce an online delivery solution designed to provide increased piracy protection and several new licensing options to help increase revenue," said Prakash Panjwani, Vice President and General Manager, Rights Management Business Unit. "The solution will allow software publishers to concentrate on their core competencies-creating valuable software-while leaving the electronic commerce, license management and online protection to the experts."
