Bayantel says it has about 300,000 telephone subscribers nationwide and records an average of 1,500 to 2,000 new DSL subscribers a month.
The Bayantel executive said that peer-to-peer applications and voice over Internet Protocol were driving broadband Internet adoption in the Philippines.
Early this month, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. said that it has 100,000 DSL subscribers as of the first quarter of 2006.
