Digital Envoy Spins Off New Business Unit

Focus on Financial Services and Internet Service Provider Markets Addresses Fraud at Every Customer Touchpoint

Atlanta – (Sept. 13, 2005) – Digital Envoy, the inventor and leading provider of IP Intelligence solutions, today announced the creation of a new business unit – Digital Resolve – dedicated to the prevention of online fraud and identity theft for financial services institutions and other online entities.

“Digital Resolve executives have more than 50 years of combined experience within our key industry focus areas,” said Bill Calpin, Digital Envoy President and CEO. “The creation of this new business unit demonstrates our commitment to these industries and allows us to better address the unique needs and issues of these markets. Digital Resolve has worked hand-in-hand with leading market players to develop best-of-breed online authentication products to secure Internet transactions and communications against fraud.”

Calpin will maintain his leadership role with Digital Envoy and will direct operations for the Digital Resolve business unit, which will operate from the company’s headquarters in Norcross, Ga. Furthermore, Dennis Maicon, a co-founder of Digital Envoy and the Executive Vice President of Financial Services Solutions for Digital Resolve, will spearhead the business unit’s efforts in the financial services arena.

Through its Fraud Analyst and E-Scam products, Digital Resolve provides financial institutions, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other online entities with seamless and non-invasive methods to protect the online channel and to build consumer confidence in utilizing Internet communications and transactions.

Introduced in the spring of 2004, Fraud Analyst was the first transparent multi-factor authentication solution developed specifically for the financial services industry to prevent online banking fraud in real time. Unlike other multi-factor authentication solutions currently available, Digital Resolve’s patent-pending Fraud Analyst does not rely on privacy-invasive computer monitoring techniques or expensive and cumbersome handheld alternatives. Using an online customer’s unique, non-spoofable identifier – an IP address – Fraud Analyst non-invasively uncovers more than a dozen data elements including location, anonymous proxies, domain name and other identifiable attributes referred to as “IP Intelligence”. It then automatically analyzes this information against multiple data sources, calculated risk factors, behavioral access profiles and other risk-based factors to prevent new account fraud, stop account hijackings, and to allow end customers to authenticate a bank’s Web site in real time. This multi-layered approach to online fraud and identity theft prevention provides protection for the online channel above and beyond other approaches in the market today.

Launched in the spring of 2004, E-Scam was the first anti-phishing tool that financial services organizations, ISPs and other large enterprises used to protect their customers - in real time. E-Scam leverages patented techniques and technologies to detect phishing e-mails by uncovering new intelligence about spoofed e-mails and embedded URLs, such as the true location of the e-mail server and sender and the validity of embedded URLs. Because E-Scam leverages the intelligence contained in IP addresses – which are an inherent part of any e-mail communication – it can provide real-time information that is critical for verifying the authenticity of e-mail communications. E-Scam, already in use by Earthlink as part of its ScamBlocker technology, offers multiple deployment options to protect consumers before they ever receive a phishing email.

“Customers and partners will have a seamless transition, continuing to benefit from our industry leadership, high-performance platforms, exemplary customer service and a laser focus on the issues and trends affecting the Internet,” Calpin added.
