Asurion to Provide Managed Wireless Services to District of Columbia

New Asurion Division Focused On Managed Wireless Services for Government, Including Device Logistics, Rental, Upgrades, Help Desk and Invoice Simplification

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) March 2, 2005 -- Tennessee-based Asurion today announced that its new Asurion Managed Wireless (AMW) group has entered into a contract to manage wireless devices for the District of Columbia government.

The DC Government joins AMW’s client roster which includes the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the State of Florida. Asurion also has a pilot program currently underway with the U.S. House of Representatives.

Through its close relationships with the top wireless carriers, original equipment manufacturers and leading systems integrators such as Accenture, EDS, and Unisys, AMW has implemented the first comprehensive cross-carrier program that helps enterprises and government agencies manage their wireless deployments with services including device rental, upgrades, transition management, helpdesk, invoice simplification and custom device configuration.

“Wireless has become a critical mode of voice and email communications for an increasingly large population of executives,” said Eric Roza, vice president and general manager, Asurion Managed Wireless Services. “Supporting wireless users is uniquely challenging, given how fast technology is changing and the fact that nearly 75% of users require a new piece of hardware every year due to loss, damage or upgrade. Our mission is to enable organizations to leverage best-available technology, enhance service levels, increase efficiency and improve end-user satisfaction. We have found that a well-structured managed wireless program can cut costs by 20% or more while improving productivity.”

“Asurion has experienced tremendous growth in the past year, and we expect to continue that trend with our new government division,” said Bret Comolli, chief executive officer, Asurion. “Our comprehensive cross-carrier program to manage wireless services certainly speaks to the current needs in government organizations to operate in a cost-effective manner. When we help our clients succeed, we succeed.”

About Asurion Asurion Corporation is the leading provider of protection and equipment management services for the wireless industry. In addition to Managed Wireless, Asurion also provides consumer services through wireless carriers including mobile phone insurance, extended warranty management, Asurion Roadside Assistance services, and Equipment Lifecycle Management.

Asurion serves over 17 million subscribers through its relationships with most of the leading wireless carriers in North America and Asia, including Alltel, Cingular, Nextel, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and more than 20 other wireless clients.
